The First Data FD55 will work with a wide range of transaction types, including PIN-secured* and signature debit, Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover®, Diners Club International®, JCB®, EBT (electronic benefits transfer)* and First Data gift and loyalty cards. Optional add-ons to the FD55 will also give you the ability to accept paper and electronic checks.

You can also use the FD55 with a variety of standard peripheral devices:

The FD55 comes with First Data’s new TransArmor® solution, a unique fraud protection system that uses today’s most advanced detection and prevention technology. Integrating encryption with tokenization, TransArmor completely eradicates card information from your system so no one can use it for fraud.

You have the option to connect the FD55 using an existing broadband Internet service. First Data’s Datawire Secure Transport delivers 18 lines per second for fast checkout, potentially saving you dial-up charges and other expenses. In the event that Internet service is temporarily unavailable, the FD55 is equipped with optional dial backup, as long as you have an analog phone line.

At a speed of 18 lines per second, the device’s built-in printer powers through text for fast checkouts. Designed for jam-free operation, the FD55 is easy to reload. Simply lift the cover and replace the standard-sized paper roll.
